Stages
Restoration is being done in several stages |
||
This enables us to do the most critically needed work as soon as possible, in order to benefit from the unique knowledge and expertise of builders, now in their 70s, who knew Rudolph von Beckerath and his work – and to complete the project before the cost escalates. We are tackling the restoration in a series of stages, as funds become available. These stages basically correspond to the keyboards on the Beckerath. This organ has five keyboards: four manual keyboards for the hands and a pedalboard for the feet. |
Pipes for each keyboard (or division) are housed in their own case. The organ can be played while much of this work is being done, until the last big stage. Costs indicated are unadjusted for inflation and are best estimates based on preliminary inspection insofar as possible. |

| Work Already Done | Future Work to be Done | |
PHASE 1: Rückpositiv (R) 2006 = $42,952 PHASE 2: Pedal (P) front half 2009 = PHASE 3: Pedal (P) rear half (2010) = $29,941. Funds donated in the second half of 2009 and the first half of 2010.
|
PHASE 4: Kronpositiv (K) = $32,000 and Hauptwerk (H) = $50,000 (estimates). For efficiency and savings, these two divisions, in adjoining cases, will be restored at the same time. PHASE 5: Schwellwerk (S) = $35,000 & Console = $40,000 (estimates). A matching grant is anticipated when we reach this point. This is the only phase in which the organ cannot be played. |
